Overwatch makes me want a new computer
bishi, keh, smirk

I teamed up with Chez & Tim in Overwatch last night and they taught me a few things. We had quite a few close matches, which were fun. Here's a pic of Tim claiming victory by standing on the car XD

To run the game effeciently I have to put it on low settings. And even then I see my framerate dipping pretty low (number in top right, from my video capture program). My Sony Vaio is a few years old now, so I'm hitting upgrade time.

I really prefer laptops over towers because they take up less space. A decent gaming laptop will cost me around $2000 ... but I guess if I was building a whole new tower it would cost me the same because I need *everything* (case, monitor, keyboard and all the internal parts like RAM, CPU, Videocard). But I'll have to do some calculations. If the difference is only a few hundred dollars, I'd rather a laptop for convenience of portability.

I'm always writing about wanting to buy expensive things.... haha. I still want a tablet but I might put that on hold and go for a new computer first.

If you did build a new PC - I'll have a Geforce GTX 970 for sale soon. Bought it 10 months ago or so, shortly after the release of MGSV. I'll be selling it soon because I'm crazy and decided I need a 1080. It's still a good video card, the current minimum spec card needed for VR. It currently runs Overwatch at 1440p at maximum settings at a high frame rate.

If you did want to buy it I'd obviously sell it to you rather cheaply. Not that you would have to, I was planning to just flog it off on ebay, but I'd be happy to send it your way if you wanted to make a build work out to be a bit cheaper.

They currently go for about $300 used on ebay. I'd be happy for around a third of that. I haven't bothered to overclock it so I haven't pushed it that hard in the ten or so months I've had it - this is always a risk when buying video cards used, you usually never know how hard someone has pushed the thing.

I probably will take you up on the videocard offer, it will be a lot cheaper for me to build a new computer that way! :)
